Reese Witherspoon feetLaura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon (born March 22, 1976) is an American actress. Her many accolades include an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award and Primetime Emmy Award. She was also awarded two Golden Globe Awards. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people around the globe in 2006 and 2015, and Forbes listed her among the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in the years 2019 and 2021. In 2021, Forbes named her the world's richest actress with an estimated total worth of $400 million.Witherspoon began her acting career at the age of a teenager, making her screen debut with The Man in the Moon (1991). Her breakthrough came in 1999 with her role as a support in Cruel Intentions, and for her role as Tracy Flick in the black comedy Election. Her fame grew with the role of Elle Woods in the comedy Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel in 2003, and for her role in the romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama (2002). In 2005 she won notoriety and the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a career decline, the only box-office success was Water for Elephants (2011). Witherspoon returned to the screen by producing and starring in Wild (2014). She got a second Academy Awards nomination for Best Actress. She has since worked primarily in the field of television, producing and starring in a variety of female-led literary adaptations under the banner of her company Hello Sunshine. These include Big Little Lies, an HBO drama series (2017-2019), The Morning Show, the Apple TV+ drama series (2019-present) and Little Fires Everywhere (2020). The Primetime Emmy Award was won for Outstanding Limited Series in the first of these series. She also co-produced the films Gone Girl (2014), and Where the Crawdads Sing (222). She is a part of the board of the Children's Defense Fund and has been named Global Ambassador of Avon Products in 2007. In this capacity, she also acts as chair honorary of Avon Foundation's charitable foundation that is dedicated to women's issues.
